tea-master whom he had challenged. When the tea-master appeared calm, greeted
him like a friend the ronin was taken aback. He did not expect such a friendly

9). Describe the Character of village Blacksmith. What do you like about him
the most?
Answer:
The village Black Smith by Henry Wordsworth Longfellow represents a character
of a common working man of the time period. He is a mighty man, with large
strong hands, and brawny arms. These would be part of the profession, as being
a blacksmith would require great strength. He has crisp or curly black long
hair and tan face.
He
“looks the whole world in the face” is reflective that he is honest. If a
person can look anyone in the eye, he can tell them the truth. It also
illustrates confidence.
He
is strong man, even though he is very generous and lenient to school children
and his family. He remembers his diseased wife and wipes the tears from his
eyes. This is most favorite feature of the Black smith.
